Bag of Tricks

1. orange slouch bag The perfect size to store snacks, a couple of drinks, a few magazines, perhaps a travel pillow and all the other normal stuff.


2. swing jacket It is not so long that it will get in the way when I am sitting on a blanket and not too fitted in case I need to hide the after effects of enjoying the festival food a little too much (plenty of room for emergency expansion).


3. fireflower scarf The pattern will help to distract the eye away from any evidence (i.e. stain, dribble or spot) of my enjoyment of festival food. The scarf is also big enough to be bunched up as a pillow for a nap or to use as a small blanket. Wouldn't that be wonderful? A nap after lunch at a blues concert?

Beach Blanket Blues

I like the beach, except for the sand and my inevitable sun burn. My skin gives the impression that it will tan easily, not so. As for the sand, it's so gritty and gets into everything. Perhaps, like is not an accurate description for my feelings about the beach.

Well, I do like outdoor concerts and as you well know good food. Next weekend (September 5th & 6th)Long Beach will hold its 30th Annual Blues Festival. You can bring a blanket and your own food or you can buy food from a vendor at the festival. Delicious food and music, all while I lay on a blanket, does it get any better than that? Hopefully there aren't too many lip smackers there (or with me) flapping their jaws over the music.
