I am not in a bad mood, more melancholy and reflective. I am not grumpy or mad, just simmering. When I feel like this my mood definitely gets reflected in what I wear or want to wear. Lots of black is usually what I reach for. Usually with sharp, high heeled shoes.

This outfit would have to be purchased for a melancholy mood after I win the lottery. (Or after both of my children have completed school) D&G, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen are not part of my budget or sold at Target.

date with heat

It has been unseasonably cool the past week. This morning I actually put on a turtleneck sweater, which wouldn't have been weird if it wasn't mid-August. However, I anticipate a heat wave in the next week. It always happens, just when I start to enjoy the cool weather a heat wave reminds me that I live in Southern California. In anticipation of the coming heat wave......(also a cute date outfit)

Chicago Weekend Outfit

I think this would be a great outfit (and not dumpy tourist) for visiting museums or sightseeing.

3. wool shorts (My sister-in-law gave be the best advice for buying short shorts, buy them a size too big. They don't ride up, are a more flattering fit for the average woman's leg and in case you want to eat, they remain comfortable.)

I suppose if I liked horses this outfit would make more sense. It is an inch away from being a costume for a indie film remake of "National Velvet". Whatever I think it's cute and really like the mix of masculine and feminine elements in this outfit. (note: skinny jeans required - a tunic is not a dress)

ring, round and rosey

This looks really comfortable especially on a "salt-bloat stretchy pants" day. There are days that I wake up and it is like my body has absorbed all the moisture in the air overnight and I feel like a puffer fish for the rest of the day. I have to drink gallons of water and ideally wear comfortable clothes during the deflation period. Anything tight just prolongs my pudgy purgatory or so it seems.

Ohm All the Time

As everyone I work with knows, my knee was horribly and traumatically injured. I ever so gracefully, like a swan, fell to the ground in front of almost all my coworkers. I hobbled around, applied ice packs, changed bandages and grossed everyone out with "band aid flashes". Although I was initially embarrassed, it was also a source of office entertainment for nearly a month. The silver lining of the whole ordeal (and necessary for the bandage changes and flashes) was needing to wear wide-legged pants. I was able to wear all my yoga outfits for almost a whole, entire month. Stretchy pants with style! I have to say that, yoga outfits are more dressed up than a normal sweatsuit with all the comfort of pajamas. It was great.


The only real danger with wearing yoga pants all the time is that they don't have a real waist band. I could have gained 20 pounds without ever really knowing it or at least I would be able to maintain a perpetual state of denial until I attempted to put on a pair of jeans. (All is well, my jeans went right on. I only have to deal with my normal level of despair. I predict at least a week of vegetarianism in my near future.) I may have to add yoga outfits to my normal outfit circulation or at least for jazzy weekend wear.

w.t.j. stormtrooper

It's finally hot and feels like summer but after a couple days of heat I am ready for autumn. I can hardly wait for the cool weather, rain, leaves changing color and apple blossoms (the dessert not the flowers). Really, I just want to wear this jacket and pair of boots. I know that I will look a little like a desert stormtrooper and am willing to take the risk.

Isn't it advisable to buy clothes out of season? I think it's obviously a wise purchasing decision and another w.t.j. outfit. What a deal!

welcome to the jungle

This outfit reminds me of those khaki dresses that ladies wore in old movies when they were out on safari. I wouldn't wear this on a real safari but I would wear it to work (a.k.a. the zoo). The wedges are really cute and as a bonus, wedges make my feet look smaller and less flipper like.

flower power

I wore a dress to work today and was asked how much I paid for my white stockings. Not a strange question to ask except I wasn't wearing stockings. Yep, my skin is that pasty and pale. My "white stockings" would have to be addressed before I could put on this dress. Perhaps I should apply self tanner but, I am a little skittish. I am afraid that I will miss a spot or not apply it evenly. Judging by today's outburst, getting over my self tanning issues might be the best way to go. I like that the flowers on tunic, shoes and rings are not too obnoxious or cutesy for a grown woman to wear.

Leather Tuscadero

The combination of this jacket, striped scarf and harmonica necklace reminds me of Leather Tuscadero from "Happy Days".  Even though it borders on becoming a bit of a costume, I don't care.  I love it and if anyone has anything to say about it we can "take it to the mattresses".

Shiny Butterfly

I like how the tunic covers all my important parts but isn't frumpy or too "little girlie".  I would definitely wear it with a pair of light colored skinny jeans.  

The flip-flops are simple in design but just unique enough to make them interesting.   I don't think that people will know that I feel like I am walking around barefoot in my pajamas when I wear this. Take that!  The trick's on you in your uncomfortable shoes!
